Melitsahas is on the western coast of Kalymnos, near the famous village of Myrties and has a beautiful beach. Tourism is modest here and the area is quiet. There is a very nice restaurant at Melitsahas beach.

Kalymnos Island is in the South Aegean Sea and is part of the Dodecanese Islands which include Kos and Rhodes. As it does not have an international airport, it is a very unspoilt island, yet easy to get to as it is only about 30 minutes by ferry from Kos, which has an international airport.

Alternatively, fly to Athens and take the 1hr domestic transfer flight or ferry to Kalymnos. Ferry services to Kalymnos are also available from Rhodes, Samos and other Greek Islands.

The island is famous for its sponges and the local divers venture daily into the crystal blue waters to collect the beautiful sea sponges from the seabed. It is also a favourite with rock climbers who enjoy the many varied and challenging routes in the most picturesque of locations.  Situated between Kos and Leros, Kalymnos is the fourth largest island in the Dodecanese. The Kalymnian landscape is rocky, its majestic mountain slopes fragrant with thyme, sage, and oregano – essential ingredients in the delicious honey for which the island is famous.
